The process
What to Expect
Many people come to their first session with questions — and sometimes a little uncertainty. That's completely normal. Here's a clear, honest picture of what working with me looks like, from your very first phone call through your sessions.
Every step is at your pace. There's nothing to memorize, nothing to perform — just a quiet conversation and a willingness to try.

It Starts With a Phone Call
Before anything else, I offer a complimentary 10–15 minute telephone consultation. This call is simply a chance for us to connect — for you to tell me a little about what you're hoping to work on, and for me to answer any questions you have about the process.
There's no commitment and no pressure. If hypnotherapy seems like a good fit, we'll schedule your first appointment. If it doesn't, I'll do my best to point you toward something that might help more.
Your First Appointment
The First Session: About 90 Minutes
Your first hypnotherapy appointment is longer than subsequent sessions — typically around 90 minutes. We spend the first part of the session talking: I'll ask about your history, your goals, and what you've already tried. This conversation is important, and there's no rushing it.
From there, we move into the hypnotherapy itself. You'll be guided into a state of focused relaxation — comfortable, aware, and in complete control. Most people find this part surprisingly pleasant.
Before your appointment, intake paperwork is available through the Downloadable Forms link on the Contact page. Completing it ahead of time means we can spend more of our session on what matters.
Ongoing Sessions
Follow-Up Sessions
Follow-up sessions are typically 60 minutes. The number of sessions varies depending on what you're working on and how you respond — some concerns resolve in just one or two sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of work.
I'll always be honest with you about how things are progressing and what I think makes sense. You're never locked into a package or pressured to continue beyond what feels right for you.
What it's actually like
What Hypnosis Feels Like
Hypnosis is nothing like what you've seen in movies or on stage. There's no loss of control, no sleep, and no one making you do anything. Here's what it's actually like.
You stay aware and in control
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and relaxation — not unconsciousness. You remain fully aware of what's happening throughout the session. You can speak, move, and end the session at any time. Nothing happens without your participation.
It feels like deep relaxation
Most people describe hypnosis as feeling similar to the moments just before sleep — deeply relaxed, calm, and inwardly focused. Your body feels heavy and comfortable. Your mind becomes quieter. Many people find it genuinely enjoyable.
It's a collaborative process
Hypnotherapy works because you're an active participant, not a passive subject. I guide the process, but you do the work. The changes that happen in hypnotherapy happen because some part of you is ready for them — I simply help create the conditions.
You'll remember the session
Most people remember everything that happens during a session, just as you'd remember a conversation or a vivid daydream. Occasionally people drift into a very deep state and recall less — but this is the exception, not the rule, and it doesn't affect the outcome.
